In this special SAP cloud assessment, Jon Reed of www.JonERP.com talks to fellow SAP Mentors Dick Hirsch, Leonardo De Araujo and Jarret Pazahanick to get their specific views on SAP cloud strategy from 3 different cloud areas HCM (Jarret), ByD (Leo), and NW Cloud (Dick). Then the guys try to put the pieces together, hash the Ariba acquisition a bit, and share their SAP cloud expectations for upcoming events as we head into SAP TechEd season.

A few weeks ago, to commemorate the first year anniversary of HANA's General Availability, I taped a special Google Hangout with SAP Mentors John Appleby, Vijay Vijayasankar and Harald Reiter. If you follow HANA you know these illustrious miscreants by now, if that is an acceptable phrase, hmm they might not like that one. But if you want to check out some bios, the four of us currently serve as the non-SAP-employee members of the HANA Distinguished Engineer Council.
A new publication about SAP HANA (by SAP Research) is out, you can find it here:

Steve Jobs Talk 1983 - Center for Design Innovation (audio) - Relevant to today's Apple - Samsung Design Wars http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/google/jonerpnewsfeed/~3/dPYthdo7HUQ/steve-jobs-talk-1983-centerFor my next linkpick, thought I would go a bit off SAP topics and write about this piece on innovation, an audio recording of Steve Jobs from 83. Ding Dong, The Suite is Dead! (as we know it!) - Assessing the future of ERP, cloud integration hubs, and cloud ERPFor my next linkpick, this article from a month ago from +Sina Moatamed was important - shifting that "best-of-breed versus suite" conversation into cloud products.
Spotfire on HANA (and a bit of a comparison)
After writing my “Tableau on HANA” blog I got curious again to see how a similar 3rd party application would behave when connecting it to HANA. It did not take a lot of time to find another subject for my investigation: Tibco Spotfire. I started off by Googling “Spotfire HANA”. The first hit is immediately a very interesting one:

August 15 is really vacation time in Europe. Some would consider planning to host the forum on August 15 in Berlin somewhat risky – especially when you have to recruit 30 startups in 6 weeks. The team who all have other “day” jobs at SAP pulled out all the stops and we had a phenomenal turnout. Thirty-five startups mostly from Germany and even one out of Austria came to participate in a day of learning and collaboration focused on big data trends and technologies.
A JonERP Special Report
The rules of marketing are broken. What does that mean for the SAP ecosystem? It means that...

Gathering information in a retail store and then making a purchase online -- commonly known as ‘showrooming’ -- is picking up steam among consumers and becoming a top concern for brick-and-mortar retailers jilted by the practice.
