Oracle’s Marketing Automation systems including segmentation, reporting, analytics & Marketing Digital Lab all run on Oracle Exadata. I sat down with Dan Williams, IT Director, Infrastructure & Tools, Oracle Global Marketing Operations to talk about how Oracle’s digital architecture is evolving and why they chose Exadata as their platform.
What is guiding Oracle’s digital customer experience technology strategy?
The official way to get the Xen hypervisor and other Xen Project downloads is via the the https://www.xenproject.org/ website. If you get Xen via the links on the website, you do not need to read the rest of this message.
We are aware that some users have been visiting the download server directly. That download server is changing.
Modern enterprises have rapidly expanded their use of applications from day-to-day operations like customer-facing e-commerce applications and management of supply chains to more complex IT tasks like remote assets monitoring, interaction with internet-connected thing, and integration with social media platforms.
The move to the public cloud continues unabated. Spending on cloud IT infrastructure worldwide is expected to reach $44.2 billion this year, doubling in only four years. In terms of traffic growth, forecasts show global IP traffic reaching 7.7 ZB this year, twice the 2015 traffic.
Assume a server has two network interfaces as follows:
eth0 : 192.168.0.1/24
eth1 : 192.168.10.1/24
Let’s assume these interfaces reside on the different VLANs. Lets assume they were connected incorrectly, in such a way that eth0 is connected to VLAN 10, which servers 192.168.10.0/24 and eth1 is connected to VLAN 2, which serves 192.168.0.0/24.
You would expect that queries by other hosts on VLAN 2 (which is connected to eth1, but serves 192.168.0.0/24!) would not get responses from the server. You are wrong.
As far as routing goes, it is a very bad idea to place multiple network interfaces with IPs of a single network (subnet). The routing table, which decides which interface to route the data through, reads the table line by line, thus – all traffic goes through a single interface of the batch (-> of the interfaces “living” on the same network).
Today, we created Xen 4.9 RC1 and will release a new release candidate every week, until we declare a release candidate as the final candidate and cut the Xen 4.9 release. We will also hold a Test Day every TUESDAY for the release candidate that was released the week prior to the Test Day starting from RC2. Note that RC’s are announced on the following mailing lists: xen-announce, xen-devel and xen-users.
