New Cloud Services Enable Organizations to Gain an End-to-End View of Applications From End-Users to the Underlying Infrastructure, Effectively Manage Diverse IT Environments and Drive DevOps Efforts…. Read what Finance Yahoo tell us about it
Just came across this article from Martin Berger “Oracle Enterprise Manager 12cR5 – Let’s connect to the Oracle Cloud”, you might want to take a look at his blog http://www.martinberger.com/
Keep up the good work Martin!
More and more companies are consolidating environments. Server sprawl has a high cost to any business and finding ways to consolidate to more powerful servers or to the cloud is a productive undertaking for any company.
The Consolidation planner in Enterprise Manager has been around for quite some time, but many still don’t utilize this great feature.
Enterprise Manager 12c can clone entire multi-tier middleware domains along with the complete stack and configuration from production to development/test environments and vice-verse. Same process applies during cloning of Weblogic and Webcenter domains.
Watch the video In Oracle Learning Library to see how: Clone Middleware Domain from Prod to Test Using Enterprise Manager 12c
Oracle Learning Library just released this new video:
EM Hybrid video – complete story from Oracle Cloud service creation to Gateway registration to Hybrid Cloud Agent deployment
Enterprise Manager Cloud Control now provides you with a single pane of glass for monitoring and managing both your on-premise and Oracle Cloud deployments, all from the same management console. By deploying Management Agents onto the Oracle Cloud virtual hosts serving your Oracle Cloud services, you are able to manage Oracle Cloud targets just as you would any other targets.
Just came across an interesting article on Hybrid Cloud Cloning, using EM12c latest… 126.96.36.199 Hybrid Cloud Cloning
It is written by Kellyn Pot’Vin-Gorman, a wellknown speaker at many Oracle events. I am pretty sure you find this post and her blog worthwhile to read.
Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 188.8.131.52 is now available for use with Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c. Oracle E-Business Suite Plug-in 184.108.40.206 is part of Oracle Enterprise Manager 12 Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite.
This latest plug-in extends EM 12c Cloud Control with E-Business Suite specific system management capabilities and features enhanced change management support.
The Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Application Management Suite for Oracle E-Business Suite includes:
Just had some busy weeks, almost forgot to share this document with you guys, written by my good friend Scott Wardrop. The VCS Cluster Mintoring Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c provides centralised visibility of Symantec VCS Cluster environments, giving administrators a singe view on component availability and performance at both a cluster and estate level. Montoring and alerting of VCS components is enabled out-of-the-box
Just crossed this interesting post on Oracle’s blog on Enterprise Manager. When you are in to optimizing your JVMs you might want to take a look at it….
Tuning a production JVM involves more than merely adding more RAM to it via the -Xmx parameter. It depends upon an understanding of how your application truly behaves in a production environment. Most JVM tuning is done by developers with a simulated load in their Development or QA environment. This is unlikely to be truly representative of the production load running on production hardware with regards to proper JVM tuning.
As you might already know, EM12c introduces the ability to create reports using BI Publisher. You should also be aware of the fact that the Information Publisher option (the ‘out of box’ reports that have been in Enterprise Manager since release 10) might not be there in a next major release of EM.
Oracle Learning Library just released an instruction video, showing the configuration of BI Publisher and the BIP Security setup.
Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c Consolidation Planner is a great tool that helps you plan and consolidate multiple targets on to a single machine such as Oracle Exadata. This solution helps you visualize what you have running in your environment and where you can take advantage of consolidation in order to maximize resources and lower IT operational costs. Watch the demo below to get a better understand of how Consolidation Planner works.
Enterprise Manager 220.127.116.11 has now been released for a few weeks, as well as the 18.104.22.168 OMS Bundle patches (also known as System patches). If you plan to apply these bundle patches to your 22.214.171.124 OMS, and you are concerned about the downtime, then, you can reduce the downtime by referring to this whitepaper that contains patching instructions to reduce downtime.
Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c provides us with means to take total control of our Security, Monitoring and Incident Management models. Using Administration and Dynamic Groups, Roles and Administrator controlled ‘Solution Groups’ we are able to route Incidents based on our organization structure.
Therefor we are more and more relying on Target Properties like: Lifecycle Phase, Line Of Business, Department etc. When monitoring thousands of Targets, management of these Properties is a huge challenge.
Going through the recently released EM12c version 126.96.36.199, you can’t miss several improvements…
Let’s take a look at the topology browser after selecting a composed target like a Generic Service, EM Console Service is this example:
As you can see the page includes a graphical presentation of the topology show all relationship lines nicely organized. By simply moving the mouse pointer over one of the targets, all directly related targets will get highlighted.
Most of the post on my blog relate to Data Center focus monitoring and management.
EM12c Cloud Control also allows for complete Application monitoring and management. By means of the Application Management Suites monitoring and management for the following applications are available:
Just another nice and handy feature in EM12c 188.8.131.52 – the Target Sitemap
For instance from the All Targets page, right click a Target and select Home – Target Sitemap, which will bring up the Target Sitemap page allowing you quic access to any targe related action…
For a long time we have been seeking for the possibility to export job definitions from one EM environment to another. Most helpful when you are using a separate development/test environment (I think you should have one…).
After creation and testing of your job definition you would than want to export the Job definition to your Production environment.
EM 184.108.40.206 now allows us to do so!
On june 3rd EM12c 220.127.116.11 got released, as I mentioned in one of my posts.
Today I noticed this interesting article on Database as a Service that has many enhancements in R4.
Checkout the post on Oracle’s blog on EM12c: EM12c Release 4: Database as a Service Enhancements
The next 2-3 days I will be spending some time in showing you guys some of the new features that have been introduced in the SLM area.
Up to release 18.104.22.168 SLM in EM12c was a bit ‘behind’ when it comes to refined intuitive UI, and clear and understandable insight.
EM12c Release 22.214.171.124 drastically changes this and brings you a new cut of pages and features, all in the area of Service Level Management.
Allow me to give you a brief overview…
All former UIX pages have been replaced by ADF.
One of the hidden gems in Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c is JVM Diagnostics. If you purchased the Weblogic Management Pack license then you already own it. JVMD allows administrators to diagnose performance problems in production Java applications.

Some time ago I had to check the status of a Linux process using a User Defined Metric running in EM11g. Recently I had to do the same using EM12c, which was easily taken care of by creating a Metric Extension using the same perl script I used for the UDM.
I thought it might be of any interest to you… Monitoring Linux processes using Metric Extensions
When allowing access to EM12c to multiple teams, each of these teams will have its own responsibility for specific Targets in the Datacentre.
In this article I describe the approach to setup Solution Groups in EM12c.
One of the most arduous processes in DB maintenance is upgrading Databases across major versions, especially for complex RAC Clusters.
With the release of Database Plug-in (126.96.36.199.0), EM12c Rel 3 (188.8.131.52.0) now supports automated upgrading of RAC Clusters in addition to Standalone Databases.
Check out this new post on Oracle’s Blog on EM12c.
Service Level Management, or SLM, is a key tool in the proactive management of any Oracle Packaged Application (e.g., E-Business Suite, Siebel, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards E1, Fusion Apps, etc.). The benefits of SLM are that administrators can utilize representative Application transactions, which are constantly and automatically running behind the scenes, to verify that all of the key application and technology components of an Application are available and performing to expectations.
After walking miles from Moscone North to South and West and back, from my apartment on Grant (at Columbus) to Moscone and back, meeting up with many of the Oracle EM product and development team, attending several interesting sessions on EM12c, Database 12c and others, listening to some of the Key Notes, experiencing the enthusiasm of many of the 60.000 attendees, seeing Oracle Team USA win the America Cup this week has almost come to an end for me.
